Family Dog Central Announces the Launch of The Daily Dirt

Deerfield Beach, April 22, 2008 – How would you like to know what your dog did all day while you were at work? Now you can. Dog parents who drop their dog off at Family Dog Central in Deerfield Beach can get an online report of the day's activities – complete with pictures. The Daily Dirt is a new online web-log, or blog, launched by the daycare facility, and it's designed to give owners a bird's eye view into their dog’s day away from home.

"We added the blog as a service for our dog clients and their parents – where we note what your dog's main activities were and what their mood was like," said Joanna Goriss, owner of Family Dog Central. "We record who played with whom, who was pack leader, and which dogs just hung out to watch."

Blogging is one of the hottest new trends in online social networking, and these dog-tales are just something else for pet owners to "woof-about". Pet-related small businesses are becoming more sophisticated and blogs have become more influential – so savvy business owners are taking the technological opportunity to stand-out from the crowd.

"Our blog is like a daily report card. Each client can go online to see exactly how much their dog digs this place," Goriss continued. "We even include video when we can, to capture the fun environment that's here for the dogs."

With more and more human products and services "going to the dogs", Family Dog Central is just providing clients what they want for their dog. And while some people may say that dogs who attend daycare are living in the lap of luxury, Family Dog Central's philosophy is just the opposite.

"Dogs are very social animals who crave attention from humans and interaction with other dogs," said Goriss. "Our trained staff provides supervision while the dogs enjoy structured activities in a group setting. During daycare – dogs play or hang out with similar dogs, rather than sit home alone with no outlet for their energy or boredom."

A typical day at Family Dog Central involves socialization – lots of it. Dogs are welcome in by 10am so the day’s schedule stays on track and so each dog gets a chance to chase, fetch, splash, and hang with the pack. Dogs are grouped in three indoor, air-conditioned play areas by size, temperament and play style, so they get lots of positive interaction. Afternoon naptime gives each dog a chance to catch his breath before the fun begins again. Overnight guests are fed, and taken out before settling into bed. But what really makes FDC different is the 24-hour supervised care the dogs that stay here receive.

“We wanted to be different, providing the type of care we’d want for our own dogs,” said Goriss, who spent four years researching, visiting facilities, training, and developing her business plan.

And she's not alone, the American Pet Products Manufacturer's Association (APPMA) estimates that $43.4 billion will be spent on pets in the U.S. in 2008 alone.

Lucky dogs who get the chance to spend their days playing at Family Dog Central, rather than being at home alone, will give this new service two-paws up!
